Book excerpt: Knowledge of the processes of educational change is said to be the missing ingredient in attempts to bring about educational innovation and reform. Whether these efforts involve grass roots innovation or large-scale societal reform, failure to understand and act on existing knowledge of the change process has accounted for the widespread lack of success in making educational improvements. This volume analyzes what is known about successful or productive change processes, and identifies corresponding action strategies at the individual, school, local and state levels. Included in this book is a major treatment of the topic of the 'ethics of planned change', a neglected topic in recent literature, especially since strategies for intervening in the change process are receiving more attention. This book is intended to be used by teachers in training and in service, teacher trainers, educational researchers, education historians and administrators.

Download or read book Change Forces in Post Communist Eastern Europe written by John P. Anchan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2003-12-16 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The collapse of communism and the adoption of parliamentary democracy led to rapid and dramatic educational change in countries formerly under the control of the Soviet Union. Leaders of the affected countries acknowledged the need to develop educational systems during the rebuilding process and embraced this transformation in a short period of time. This has provided researchers with a unique opportunity to investigate educational change as a 'living laboratory'. In this book, the authors explore the complex nature of change in five former communist countries: Russia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and East Germany. The authors consider: * Educational change as a process rather than as a event * A comparison of such changes against a model for educational change developed by Michael Fullan for understanding large-scale educational reform * Analysis of issues at the national level where the original impetus for change has occurred With contributors from countries affected by such changes, this book provides an insight into the process of educational change as a result of revolution rather than evolution. This book will be of great interest to academics and researchers of educational change and those involved with educational reform. It will also interest those looking at comparative education models and postgraduate students focussing their studies on issues of educational change and reform.

This book was released on 2011-05-26 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In response to the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), the National Research Council appointed a committee operating under the auspices of the Naval Studies Board to study the national security implications of climate change for U.S. naval forces. In conducting this study, the committee found that even the most moderate current trends in climate, if continued, will present new national security challenges for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. While the timing, degree, and consequences of future climate change impacts remain uncertain, many changes are already underway in regions around the world, such as in the Arctic, and call for action by U.S. naval leadership in response. The terms of reference (TOR) directed that the study be based on Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) scenarios and other peer-reviewed assessment. Therefore, the committee did not address the science of climate change or challenge the scenarios on which the committee's findings and recommendations are based. National Security Implications of Climate Change for U.S. Naval Forces addresses both the near- and long-term implications for U.S. naval forces in each of the four areas of the TOR, and provides corresponding findings and recommendations. This report and its conclusions are organized around six discussion areas--all presented within the context of a changing climate.

This book was released on 2020-06-09 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book will make a first contribution to identify the gaps in current practices and provide alternative mechanisms to conceptualize professionalism that is reflective of changing requirements, culture, and demographics of the contemporary military force. The military profession promotes the development, sustainment, and embodiment of ethos, which guides conduct across operational contexts, from times of national and international crises and security challenges (e.g., war, natural disasters, and peace support operations). It is imperative for military leaders to understand how ethos and doctrine shape professional frameworks, which guide the conduct of military members.

Download or read book Prayer A Force That Causes Change written by David Williamson and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2009-10 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why prayer? Prayer is an expression of needs and faith, but also a way to build a long-lasting relationship with God. In this third volume of Faithful in Prayer, David Williamson shares a series of articles that encourage prayer that, with God's answers, can transform the seemingly impossible into something very possible. Williamson is a regular speaker on prayer and Christian living and through personal anecdotes and applicable scripture leads others through the foundation of faith, ways to build faith for effective prayer, and how to make a stand through prayer. Intended to motivate others to think and dream big, Williamson's articles teach specifically how to: * Believe God over the evidence * Deal with unforgiveness * Protect the heart to keep out doubt * Be bold in prayer and allow God to work * Live how He says we should live God is calling for men and women to join with Him in the work through prayer and action. Prayer: A Force That Causes Change provides the encouragement, empowerment, and grace so that others can be successful in prayer. But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26 (NKJV)
