Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Books of Adam and Eve is a series of texts from "The Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament." Books 1 and 2 begin immediately after the expulsion from the Garden of Eden, and end with the testament and translation of Enoch. Great emphasis is placed in Book 1 on Adam's sorrow and helplessness in the world outside the garden. In Book 2, the "sons of God" who appear in Genesis 6:2 are identified as the children of Seth, and the "daughters of men" as women descended from Cain, who successfully tempt most of the Sethites to come down from their mountain and join the Cainites in the valley below, under the instigation of Genun son of Lamech. This Genun, as the inventor of musical instruments, seems to correspond the Biblical Jubal; however he also invents weapons of war. The Cainites, descended from Cain the first murderer, are described as exceedingly wicked, being prone to commit murder and incest. After seducing the Sethites, their offspring become the Nephilim, the "mighty men" of Gen. 6 who are all destroyed in the deluge, as also detailed in other works such as I Enoch and Jubilees. Books 3 and 4 continue with the lives of Noah, Shem, Melchizedek, etc. through to the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus in AD 70. The genealogy from Adam to Jesus is given, as in the Gospels, but including also the names of the wives of each of Jesus' ancestors, which is extremely rare. Book excerpt: Dr. Solomon Caesar Malan translates the extracanonical stories describing Adam and Eve following their expulsion from the Garden of Eden. Having lain in a cave in northeast Africa for centuries prior to their discovery, the stories are intended to clarify what became of the first ever man and woman after they succumbed to temptation. Although not considered canon, they have received interest by Biblical scholars who have translated the original Ge'ez into various European languages. We hear the stories of Adam and Eve as they navigate the wilderness and eventually settle down to form a family. Their initial departure is marred by Eve fainting in shock at the landscape before them: God, however, offers encouragement and the pair are able to venture forth into the great unknown. An intriguing supplement to the Book of Genesis, The First and Second Books of Adam and Eve remains a text of some interest to Biblical scholars and adherents of Christianity.

Book excerpt: It is the first morning in the Garden of Eden as the creatures of the forest awaken to see something beautiful and different lying among them. As all the angels in the heavenly realm watch with great anticipation, the Creator breathes into the nostrils of the still body. Suddenly, the creature begins to move. Adam, who has been given life, is the first man and is created in the very image and likeness of God. After Adam comes to understand the gift of life and love with help from the Father, God takes him by the hand and shows him the garden paradise created just for him. As Adam and God part for the night, Adam lies down to sleep, marveling at the power of his Creator and the beauty surrounding him. On the seventh day, God introduces Adam to the fruits of the garden and a woman created from his very own rib. But just as Adam and Eve realize their love for each other, a black force emerges to test everything they know and understand about God's love, life and nature. In this historical novel, actual and imagined events weave together to bring to light the meanings and truths behind the story of the first Adam. "The Adam Chronicles transports readers into a realm where they can see, feel, touch, and smell the beginning of God's mighty journey with humankind." --Mark Winheld, Author and Literary Critic

Book excerpt: When God created Adam, He did so because mankind had reached a point in its evolution where a messiah was needed to help them reach a higher level of consciousness. After sculpting Adam out of mud, the Big Guy then placed him in Eden and, just to keep him busy, commanded him to name the animals. After that, God more or less abandoned Adam and didn't tell him much of anything else, creating a climate of tension and mistrust between the two that eventually led to Adam getting kicked out of the Garden without knowing what his purpose in life was. Mankind was screwed. At least, that's the way Adam tells it anyway. Lying on his deathbed, Adam decides that the time has come to clear up some of those vicious rumors floating around about how he and Eve were responsible for all the bad things that had happened to mankind since the two were expelled from the Garden. Join Adam as he fills in the gaps of the Genesis story. It's an hilarious adventure filled with bad behavior, fallen angels, rampaging giants, neglectful fathers, rebellious sons, corporate greed, anarchy, violence and just enough sex to be deliciously sinful.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Conflict of Adam and Eve with Satan also known as “The First & Second book of Adam and Eve”, is broken up into two parts or books: Books 1 and 2 begin immediately after the expulsion by God our Father from the Garden of Eden, and ending with the testament and translation of Enoch. Great emphasis is placed in Book 1 on Adam's sorrow and helplessness in the world outside the garden. In Book 2, the "sons of God" who appear in Genesis 6:2 are identified as the children of Seth, and the "daughters of men" as women descended from Cain, who successfully tempt most of the Sethites to come down from their mountain and join the Cainites in the valley below, under the instigation of Genun, son of Lamech. This Genun, as the inventor of musical instruments, seems to correspond to the Biblical Jubal; however he also invents weapons of war. The Cainites, descended from Cain the first murderer, are described as exceedingly wicked, being prone to commit murder and incest. After seducing the Sethites, their offspring become or join with the Nephilim, the "mighty men" of Genesis. 6 who are all destroyed in the deluge of the Great flood of Noah, as also detailed in other works such as I Enoch and Jubilees. The Nephilim were the offspring of the "sons of God" and the "daughters of men" according to Genesis 6:4; and giants who inhabited Canaan according to Numbers 13:33. The term "Nephilim" occurs only twice in The Holy Bible, both in the Torah. The first is Genesis 6:1–4, and immediately before the story of Noah's ark. The second is Numbers 13:32–33, where the Twelve Spies report that they have seen fearsome man like giants in the lands of Canaan. The genealogy from Adam to Noah's sons is given, as in the Gospels, but including also the names of the wives of each of Jesus' ancestors, which is extremely rare. In general, this account begins where the Genesis story of Adam and Eve leaves off. Therefore the two cannot be compared; here we have a new chapter--a sort of sequel to the other. Here is the story of the twin sisters of Cain and Abel, and it is notable that here the blame for the first murder is placed squarely at the door of a difference over Woman. However perhaps the greatest evidence of Devine authenticity of this great “copy” correctly tells us of the number of days in a Solar Year, and that the earth was not flat but round, also that the earth is not the centre of the universe and the sun is the centre and all planets revolve around it… This “Copy” also details the number of planets and states that we have ten planets not nine as we teach today. However in 2005 a new planet was discovered in our Solar System named “Eris” which was discovered by the team of Mike Brown, Chad Trujillo, and David Rabinowitz on January 5, 2005, from images taken on October 21, 2003. These facts puts “The Conflict of Adam and Eve with Satan” un-deniable Holy Spiritual Devine Scripture and should be included in every Holy Bible translation in future times.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The First Book of Adam and Eve details the life and times of Adam and Eve after they were expelled from the garden to the time that Cain kills his brother Abel. It tells of Adam and Eve's first dwelling—the Cave of Treasures; their trials and temptations; Satan's many apparitions to them; the birth of Cain, Abel, and their twin sisters; and Cain's love for his beautiful twin sister, Luluwa, whom Adam and Eve wished to join to Abel. This book is considered by many scholars to be part of the "Pseudepigrapha" (soo-duh-pig-ruh-fuh). The "Pseudepigrapha" is a collection of historical biblical works that are considered to be fiction. Because of that stigma, this book was not included in the compilation of the Holy Bible. This book is a written history of what happened in the days of Adam and Eve after they were cast out of the garden. Although considered to be pseudepigraphic by some, it carries significant meaning and insight into events of that time. It is doubtful that these writings could have survived all the many centuries if there were no substance to them. This book is simply a version of an account handed down by word of mouth, from generation to generation, linking the time that the first human life was created to the time when somebody finally decided to write it down. This particular version is the work of unknown Egyptians. The lack of historical allusion makes it difficult to precisely date the writing, however, using other pseudepigraphical works as a reference, it was probably written a few hundred years before the birth of Christ. Parts of this version are found in the Jewish Talmud, and the Islamic Koran, showing what a vital role it played in the original literature of human wisdom. The Egyptian author wrote in Arabic, but later translations were found written in Ethiopic. The present English translation was translated in the late 1800's by Dr. S. C. Malan and Dr. E. Trumpp. They translated into King James English from both the Arabic version and the Ethiopic version which was then published in The Forgotten Books of Eden in 1927 by The World Publishing Company. In 1995, the text was extracted from a copy of The Forgotten Books of Eden and converted to electronic form by Dennis Hawkins. It was then translated into more modern English by simply exchanging 'Thou' s for 'You's, 'Art's for 'Are's, and so forth. The text was then carefully re-read to ensure its integrity.

Download or read book Adam Eve and the Devil written by Marjo C. a. Korpel and published by . This book was released on 2015-08-20 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book the authors develop an intriguing theory about the Canaanite origin of the biblical traditions concerning the origin of the cosmos and the creation of humankind. Adam, Eve, and the Devil tells a new story about human beginnings and at the same time proposes a fresh start for biblical research into primordial traditions. A number of clay tablets from Ugarit, dating from the late thirteenth century BCE, throw new light, Korpel and de Moor argue, on the background of the first chapters of Genesis and the myth of Adam. In these tablets, El, the creator deity, and his wife Asherah lived in a vineyard or garden on the slopes of Mt Ararat, known in the Bible as the mountain where Noah's ark came to rest. The first sinner was not a human being, but an evil god called Horon who wanted to depose El. Horon was thrown down from the mountain of the gods, and in revenge he transformed the Tree of Life in the garden into a Tree of Death and enveloped the whole world in a poisonous fog. Adam was sent down to restore life on earth, but failed because Horon in the form of a huge serpent bit him. As a result Adam and his wife lost their immortality. This myth found its way into the Bible, the Apocrypha and the Pseudepigraphical literature, though it was often transformed or treated critically. Adam, Eve, and the Devil traces the reception of the myth in its many forms, and also presents the oldest pictures of Adam and Eve ever identified (one of them on the front cover of the book).

Book excerpt: This book contains Doctor Lumpkin's translation to English of the extracanonical stories describing Adam and Eve after they were cast out of the Garden of Eden. Various other characters of the Biblical canon are introduced - Satan, having followed the pair from the Garden of Eden, attempts to further tempt and lead Adam and Eve astray by promising redemption or an easier life. The challenge of rearing and raising children is also detailed, with the formative years of Cain, Abel and their twin sisters occupying several chapters. Frequently, Adam and Eve consult with God through prayer. The Lord, although still angered by his creation's succumbing to the forbidden fruit upon the free, intervenes multiple times to offer guidance through the hardship. God teaches Adam that the difficulties of hunger, thirst, fatigue and pain are to be a part of life, but in sympathy to Adam's plight offers a bough of figs to ease his way. An intriguing supplement to the Book of Genesis, The First and Second Books of Adam and Eve remains a text of some interest to Biblical scholars and adherents of Christianity.

This book was released on 2015-07-14 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells much that will be new to most readers-was probably written in Arabic in Egypt; whence it was taken farther south, and translated into Ethiopic. At all events no Greek or Egyptian original of it, is, as yet, known to exist; neither does it betray the least vestige of Hellenism. The Ethiopic text is irregularly divided in sections, -some of great length, owing to the subject in hand, -I thought more convenient to divide my translation into Books, and chapters, some of which have the same headings as those given in the text. Book 1-Takes in the whole life of Adam and Eve, from the day they left Eden; their dwelling in the Cave of Treasures; their trials and temptations; Satan's manifold apparitions to them, and the Word of God coming to comfort and help them. Then the birth of Cain, of Abel, and of their twin sisters; Cain's love for his own twin sister, Luluwa, whom Adam and Eve wished to join to Abel; hence Cain's hatred and murder of his brother; and Adam's sorrow and death. Book 2-Gives the history of the patriarchs who lived before the Flood; the dwelling of the children of Seth on the Holy Mountain-Mount Hermon-until they were lured by Genun and by the daughters of Cain, to come down from the mountain; and as "fallen angels," to lose God's love for them. Then Cain's death, when slain by Lamech the blind; and the lives of the other patriarchs, until the birth of Noah. Book 3-Gives the history of the building of the ark; of the Flood, of the settlement of Noah and his family; and of the carrying of the body of Adam to "the Middle of the Earth;" the growth of idolatry under Nimrud; the destruction of idols; and the call of Abraham. Book 4-Gives a short history of the patriarchs, judges and kings, from Abraham to the coming of Christ. S. C. Malan

Book excerpt: Deepens and refreshes our view of early Christianity while casting a disturbing light on the evolution of the attitudes passed down to us. How did the early Christians come to believe that sex was inherently sinful? When did the Fall of Adam become synonymous with the fall of humanity? What turned Christianity from a dissident sect that championed the integrity of the individual and the idea of free will into the bulwark of a new imperial order—with the central belief that human beings cannot not choose to sin? In this provocative masterpiece of historical scholarship Elaine Pagels re-creates the controversies that racked the early church as it confronted the riddles of sexuality, freedom, and sin as embodied in the story of Genesis. And she shows how what was once heresy came to shape our own attitudes toward the body and the soul.
