Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this handbook is to provide aviation enthusiasts with a simple checklist on where to find the surviving retired military aircraft that are preserved in the state of Colorado. The majority of the “Colorado Warbird Survivors” can be viewed at the Pueblo Weisbrod Air Museum, the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver, on the grounds of Buckley Air Force Base in Denver, on the grounds of the Peterson Air and Space Museum and on the grounds of the United States Air Force Academy, both located in Colorado Springs. Various “gate guards” in various cities in the state are also listed. The museum staffs and volunteer organizations in Colorado have done a particularly good job of preserving the great variety of American combat veteran aircraft, illustrated here. Hopefully, as more aircraft are recovered from their crash sites in the bush and restored, traded or brought back from private owners, that they too will be added to the record. The book lists the aircraft alphabetically by manufacturer, number and type. This list is also appended with a brief summary of the aircraft presently on display within the state and a bit of its history in the US military.

Download or read book Enterprise Level Security 1 2 written by Kevin Foltz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-05-30 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a set, comprising of Enterprise Level Security and Enterprise Level Security 2. Enterprise Level Security: Securing Information Systems in an Uncertain World provides a modern alternative to the fortress approach to security. The new approach is more distributed and has no need for passwords or accounts. Global attacks become much more difficult, and losses are localized, should they occur. The security approach is derived from a set of tenets that form the basic security model requirements. Many of the changes in authorization within the enterprise model happen automatically. Identities and claims for access occur during each step of the computing process. Many of the techniques in this book have been piloted. These techniques have been proven to be resilient, secure, extensible, and scalable. The operational model of a distributed computer environment defense is currently being implemented on a broad scale for a particular enterprise. The first section of the book comprises seven chapters that cover basics and philosophy, including discussions on identity, attributes, access and privilege, cryptography, the cloud, and the network. These chapters contain an evolved set of principles and philosophies that were not apparent at the beginning of the project. The second section, consisting of chapters eight through twenty-two, contains technical information and details obtained by making painful mistakes and reworking processes until a workable formulation was derived. Topics covered in this section include claims-based authentication, credentials for access claims, claims creation, invoking an application, cascading authorization, federation, and content access control. This section also covers delegation, the enterprise attribute ecosystem, database access, building enterprise software, vulnerability analyses, the enterprise support desk, and network defense. Enterprise Level Security 2: Advanced Topics in an Uncertain World follows on from the authors’ first book on Enterprise Level Security (ELS), which covered the basic concepts of ELS and the discoveries made during the first eight years of its development. This book follows on from this to give a discussion of advanced topics and solutions, derived from 16 years of research, pilots, and operational trials in putting an enterprise system together. The chapters cover specific advanced topics derived from painful mistakes and numerous revisions of processes. This book covers many of the topics omitted from the first book including multi-factor authentication, cloud key management, enterprise change management, entity veracity, homomorphic computing, device management, mobile ad hoc, big data, mediation, and several other topics. The ELS model of enterprise security is endorsed by the Secretary of the Air Force for Air Force computing systems and is a candidate for DoD systems under the Joint Information Environment Program. The book is intended for enterprise IT architecture developers, application developers, and IT security professionals. This is a unique approach to end-to-end security and fills a niche in the market. Dr. Kevin E. Foltz, Institute for Defense Analyses, has over a decade of experience working to improve security in information systems. He has presented and published research on different aspects of enterprise security, security modeling, and high assurance systems. He also has degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Strategic Security Studies. Dr. William R. Simpson, Institute for Defense Analyses, has over two decades of experience working to improve systems security. He has degrees in Aeronautical Engineering and Business Administration, as well as undergoing military and government training. He spent many years as an expert in aeronautics before delving into the field of electronic and system testing, and he has spent the last 20 years on IT-related themes (mostly security, including processes, damage assessments of cyber intrusions, IT security standards, IT security evaluation, and IT architecture).

Download or read book Chief of Staff Vol 1 written by David Zabecki and published by Naval Institute Press. This book was released on 2013-11-15 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The two-volume Chief of Staff examines the history, development, and role of the military duty position of the chief of staff. Many books have studied history's great commanders and the art of command. None have focused exclusively on the chief of staff -- that key staff officer responsible for translating the ideas of the commander into practical plans that common soldiers can execute successfully on the battlefield. In some cases, it is almost impossible to think of certain great commanders without also thinking of their chief of staff. Napoleon's chief of staff Berthier and Eisenhower's chief of staff Bedell Smith are two examples that are profiled in this work. Zabecki and his collaborators examine the history, development, and role of the chief of staff primarily through profiles of the most important practitioners of the art. These books are published in cooperation with the Association of the United States Army.

Download or read book The capacity of welfare regimes to absorb macro economic shocks National differences in the development of unemployment poverty and the distribution of income in the aftermath of the financial crisis 2008 written by Verena Maria Mai and published by Anchor Academic Publishing (aap_verlag). This book was released on 2014-02-01 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The financial crisis, which struck the EU countries in 2008, was followed by the severest economic recession since the end of the Second World War. This book illustrates the development of unemployment, poverty and the distribution of income within the social systems of Sweden, Austria and Spain in the aftermath of the financial crisis 2008. Whether one country has been more effective in cushioning the negative impacts of the economic downturn and whether variations in the development of these socio-political indicators are attributable to the different welfare state models, are central to this piece of research. This analysis supports the findings of previous research. Firstly, it could be observed that some societal groups have been more vulnerable to the negative impacts of the financial crisis 2008 than others. Secondly, less developed welfare states have to react in more active ways to crises compared to countries which have the schemes already implemented before an economic downturn shows its consequences.

This book was released on 2022-05-13 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Various pedagogies, such as the use of digital learning in education, have been used and researched for decades, but many schools have little to show for these initiatives. This contrasts starkly with technology-supported initiatives in other fields such as business and healthcare. Traditional pedagogies and general digital technology applications have yet to impact education in a significant way that transforms learning. A primary reason for this minimal impact on learning is that digital technologies have attempted to make traditional instructional processes more efficient rather than using a more appropriate paradigm for learning. As such, it is important to look at digital technology as a partner and use transformative applications to become partners with students (not teachers) to empower their learning process both in and out of school. The Handbook of Research on Transformative and Innovative Pedagogies in Education is a comprehensive reference that identifies and justifies the paradigm of transformative learning and pedagogies in education. It provides exemplars of existing transformative applications that, if used as partners to empower student learning, have the potential to dramatically engage students in a type of learning that better fits 21st century learners. Covering topics such as gamification, project-based learning, and professional development, this major reference work is an essential resource for pre-service and in-service teachers, educational technologists, instructional designers, educational administration and faculty, researchers, and academicians seeking pedagogical models that inspire students to learn meaningfully.
