Download or read book Watergate The Hidden History written by Lamar Waldron and published by Catapult. This book was released on 2013-06-01 with total page 816 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While Richard Nixon's culpability for Watergate has long been established—most recently by PBS in 2003—what's truly remarkable that after almost forty years, conventional accounts of the scandal still don't address Nixon's motive. Why was President Nixon willing to risk his reelection with so many repeated burglaries at the Watergate—and other Washington offices—in just a few weeks? What motivated Nixon to jeopardize his presidency by ordering the wide range of criminal operations that resulted in Watergate? What was Nixon so desperate to get at the Watergate, and how does it explain the deeper context surrounding his crimes? For the first time, the groundbreaking investigative research in Watergate: The Hidden History provides documented answers to all of those questions. It adds crucial missing pieces to the Watergate story—information that President Nixon wanted, but couldn't get, and that wasn't available to the Senate Watergate Committee or to Woodward and Bernstein. This new information not only reveals remarkable insights into Nixon's motivation for Watergate, but also answers the two most important remaining questions: What were the Watergate burglars after? And why was Nixon willing to risk his Presidency to get it? Watergate: The Hidden History reexamines the historical record, including new material only available in recent years. This includes thousands of recently declassified CIA and FBI files, newly released Nixon tapes, and exclusive interviews with those involved in the events surrounding Watergate—ranging from former Nixon officials to key aides for John and Robert Kennedy. This book also builds on decades of investigations by noted journalists and historians, as well as long–overlooked investigative articles from publications like Time magazine, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times.
Download or read book Tricky Dick written by Roger J. Stone and published by Skyhorse. This book was released on 2017-07-11 with total page 720 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A warts and all biography of the most enduring American politician of the twentieth century. Drawing on his unprecedented access and insight about the 37th president, New York Times–bestselling author Roger Stone and his co-author, award-winning investigative reporter Michael Colapietro, look at the totality of Richard Nixon’s career, utilizing stunning new information either suppressed or unknown by the mainstream media of the time. Stone and his co-author trace Nixon’s meteoric climb, from his first race for the House in 1947, his dogged pursuit of Soviet spy Alger Hiss (classified Russian documents released after the fall of the Soviet Union prove Hiss was indeed a KGB Spy), to Nixon’s bruising campaign for the US Senate in 1950, his improbable selection by General Dwight D. Eisenhower to be vice president only six years after his election to Congress, the triumphs and humiliations of his vice presidential years, and his razor thin loss of the presidency to John F. Kennedy in 1960. Tricky Dick proves in intricate detail how the 1960 election was stolen from a surging Nixon, detailing voter fraud in both Texas and Illinois to a degree heretofore undocumented by political scientists and covered only by the New York Herald Tribune at the time. These New York Times–bestselling authors also detail Nixon’s reinvention of himself as “the New Nixon” and the greatest single comeback in American history, culminating with Nixon’s triumphant election as president in 1968. Tricky Dick also dissects the military industrial complex unhappiness with Nixon’s end to the war in Vietnam, his historic strategic arms limitation agreement with the Soviets, his opening to China, and the resultant plot to bring Nixon down in the scandal known today as Watergate. “I knew Nixon in the late 80’s. I met him in George Steinbrenner’s box at Yankee Stadium. Roger Stone nails it. He really understands Nixon.” —Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States

Download or read book The Hidden History of the JFK Assassination written by Lamar Waldron and published by Scribe Publications. This book was released on 2013-11-14 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Five decades after one of America’s greatest tragedies, this compelling book pierces the veil of secrecy to document the small, tightly held conspiracy that killed President John F. Kennedy. It explains why he was murdered, and how it was done in a way that forced many records to remain secret for decades. The Hidden History of the JFK Assassination draws on exclusive interviews with more than two dozen associates of John and Robert Kennedy, in addition to former FBI, Secret Service, militaryintelligence, and Congressional personnel, who provided critical first-hand information. The book also details the FBI confessions of notorious Mafia godfathers Carlos Marcello and Santo Trafficante to reveal exactly who killed JFK. Using files and information that have never been published before, Lamar Waldron fully explains for the first time how Marcello and Trafficante committed — and got away with — the crime of the twentieth century.
Download or read book God School 9 11 and JFK written by Bruce de Torres and published by TrineDay. This book was released on 2021-05-21 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: GOD, SCHOOL, 9/11 AND JFK by Bruce de Torres exposes the lies that are killing us (we are poor, miserable sinners who deserve God's condemnation and school's incarceration; salvation and careers depend on doing what we are told) and the truth that sets us free (we are eternal love and consciousness, creating all we behold). The lies of 9/11 and the JFK assassination prove our government was hijacked by "elites," who strip our rights, wage wars of aggression, and accumulate unspendable riches as they seek to rule the world. The ideals of the American Founding enthrone our sovereignty, our right to be free and oversee a transparent and accountable government. What is seen by those who "die" and return suggests eternal life and safety. The truth restores our sanity, braces us to play this game of life, and allows us to love each other as ourselves as we create the solutions that we need.
Download or read book Interlock written by Patricia Goldstone and published by Catapult. This book was released on 2015-10-01 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the fateful month of March 2000, shortly after opening a hugely successful show in New York that unveiled the more nefarious financial connections of Presidential candidate George W. Bush, the hugely ambitious Conceptual artist Mark Lombardi was found hanged in his studio, an apparent suicide. With museums lining up to buy his work, and the fame he had sought relentlessly at last within his reach, speculation about whether his death was suicide or murder has titillated the art world ever since. Lombardi was an enigma who was at once a compulsive truth–teller and a cunning player of the art game, a political operative and a stubborn independent, a serious artist and a Merry Prankster, a metaphysicist if not a scientist. Lombardi's spidery, elusive diagrams describing the evolution of the shadow–banking industry from a decades–old alliances between intelligence agencies, banking, government and organized crime, may have made him unique in art history as the only artist whose primary subject, the CIA, has turned around and studied him and his art work. Exhaustively researched, this is the first comprehensive biography of this immensely contradictory and brilliantly original artist whose pervasive influence in not only the art world, but also in the world of computer science and cyber–security is only now coming to light.
Download or read book Ignorance written by Peter Burke and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2023-02-14 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A rich, wide-ranging history of ignorance in all its forms, from antiquity to the present day Throughout history, every age has thought of itself as more knowledgeable than the last. Renaissance humanists viewed the Middle Ages as an era of darkness, Enlightenment thinkers tried to sweep superstition away with reason, the modern welfare state sought to slay the “giant” of ignorance, and in today’s hyperconnected world seemingly limitless information is available on demand. But what about the knowledge lost over the centuries? Are we really any less ignorant than our ancestors? In this highly original account, Peter Burke examines the long history of humanity’s ignorance across religion and science, war and politics, business and catastrophes. Burke reveals remarkable stories of the many forms of ignorance—genuine or feigned, conscious and unconscious—from the willful politicians who redrew Europe’s borders in 1919 to the politics of whistleblowing and climate change denial. The result is a lively exploration of human knowledge across the ages, and the importance of recognizing its limits.

Download or read book The Man Who Killed Kennedy written by Roger J. Stone and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2014-09-02 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This New York Times bestseller by the veteran government operative lays out the theory that LBJ orchestrated the JFK assassination. Consummate political insider Roger Stone makes a compelling case that Lyndon Baines Johnson had the motive, means, and opportunity to orchestrate the murder of John F. Kennedy. Stone maps out the case that Johnson blackmailed his way on the ticket in 1960 and was being dumped in 1964 to face prosecution for corruption at the hands of his nemesis attorney, Robert Kennedy. Stone uses fingerprint evidence and testimony to prove Kennedy was shot by a long-time Johnson hit man—not Lee Harvey Oswald. Johnson would use power from his personal connections in Texas, from the criminal underworld, and from the United States government to escape an untimely end in politics and to seize even greater power. In The Man Who Killed Kennedy, you will find out how and why he did it.
Download or read book American Conspiracy Files written by Peter Kross and published by SCB Distributors. This book was released on 2015-11-25 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Conspiracy theories are not new to our modern time. They date back to biblical times when Moses sent his spies out to check out what the Egyptians were doing. Espionage is also linked to various conspiracies and is all mixed up in the same bag of tricks and form any decent conspiracy or theory. In this new, fact providing book by author Peter Kross called The American Conspiracy Files: The Stories We Were Never Told, the reader is given a tour de force through the world of conspiracies and conspiracy theories dating back to the time when this nation was first founded, right up until the modern day. Author Kross provides the reader with these fascinating and unbelievable stories in short, thought-provoking chapters that will both inform and educate the public to these little known tales from our past. Among the stories that are revealed are the circumstances surrounding the Lost Colony of Roanoke whose settlers simply left their homes and were never seen again. The tales of the deaths of Davy Crockett, Jesse James and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid leave the reader wondering just what really happened to these iconic heroes, conspiracies in the Revolutionary War including Benedict Arnold and Ben Franklin’s son, William. We delve into the large conspiracy to kill President Lincoln and see that John Wilkes Booth did not act alone. Our tale then goes into our modern day with chapters on the deaths of John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King, spies in the Roosevelt administration, the reasons behind the Oklahoma City bombing, the sordid plots of President Lyndon Johnson and the deaths of people associated with him, the revelation of “Deep Throat,” a plot by the Joint Chiefs of Staff to invade Cuba and blame it on Castro, among other interesting tales. As author Kross did in his previous books, Tales From Langley: The CIA from Truman to Obama and The Secret History of the United States, these stories are a fascinating account of our hidden history, most of which the public has never heard of.
Download or read book American Exception written by Aaron Good and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2022-06-21 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: American Exception seeks to explain the breakdown of US democracy. In particular, how we can understand the uncanny continuity of American foreign policy, the breakdown of the rule of law, and the extreme concentration of wealth and power into an overworld of the corporate rich. To trace the evolution of the American state, the author takes a deep politics approach, shedding light on those political practices that are typically repressed in “mainstream” discourse. In its long history before World War II, the US had a deep political system—a system of governance in which decision-making and enforcement were carried out within—and outside of—public institutions. It was a system that always included some degree of secretive collusion and law-breaking. After World War II, US elites decided to pursue global dominance over the international capitalist system. Setting aside the liberal rhetoric, this project was pursued in a manner that was by and large imperialistic rather than progressive. To administer this covert empire, US elites created a massive national security state characterized by unprecedented levels of secrecy and lawlessness. The “Global Communist Conspiracy” provided a pretext for exceptionism—an endless “exception” to the rule of law. What gradually emerged after World War II was a tripartite state system of governance. The open democratic state and the authoritarian security state were both increasingly dominated by an American deep state. The term deep state was badly misappropriated during the Trump era. In the simplest sense, it herein refers to all those institutions that collectively exercise undemocratic power over state and society. To trace how we arrived at this point, American Exception explores various deep state institutions and history-making interventions. Key institutions involve the relationships between the overworld of the corporate rich, the underworld of organized crime, and the national security actors that mediate between them. History-making interventions include the toppling of foreign governments, the launching of aggressive wars, and the political assassinations of the 1960s. The book concludes by assessing the prospects for a revival of US democracy.

Download or read book Watergate s Forgotten Hero written by Adam Henig and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2021-06-03 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nearly everyone who played a significant role in the Watergate saga has been scrutinized except one key participant: night watchman Frank Wills. On the evening of June 17, 1972, in Washington D.C, the twenty-four-year-old security guard was on duty at the Watergate Office Building when he detected a break-in. A high school dropout with only a few hours of formal guard training, Wills alerted the police who caught five burglars, ultimately igniting a national political scandal that ended with the resignation of President Richard Nixon. The only African American identified with the Watergate affair, Frank Wills enjoyed a brief moment in the limelight, but was unable to cope with his newfound fame, living the remainder of his life in obscurity and poverty. Through exhaustive research and numerous interviews, the story of America's most famous night watchman finally has been told.
Download or read book Dark Quadrant written by Jonathan Marshall and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-04-09 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Truman to Trump, the deep corruption of our political leaders unveiled. Many critiques of the Trump era contrast it with the latter half of the twentieth century, when the United States seemed governed more by statesmen than by special interests. Without denying the extraordinary vigor of President Trump’s assault on traditional ethical and legal norms, Jonathan Marshall challenges the myth of a golden age of American democracy. Drawing on a host of original archival sources, he tells a shocking story of how well-protected criminals systematically organized the corruption of American national politics after World War II. Marshall begins by tracing the extraordinary scandals of President Truman, whose political career was launched by the murderous Pendergast machine in Missouri. He goes on to highlight the role of organized crime in the rise of McCarthyism during the Cold War, the near-derailment of Vice President Johnson’s political career by two mob-related scandals, and Nixon’s career-long association with underworld figures. The book culminates with a discussion of Donald Trump’s unique history of relations with the traditional American Mafia and newer transnational gangs like the Russian mafiya—and how the latter led to his historic impeachment by the House of Representatives.
Download or read book The Turning written by Andrew E. Hunt and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2001-05 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The anti-Vietnam War movement in the United States is perhaps best remembered for its young, counterculture student protesters. However, the Vietnam War was the first conflict in American history in which a substantial number of military personnel actively protested the war while it was in progress. In The Turning, Andrew Hunt reclaims the history of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW), an organization that transformed the antiwar movement by placing Vietnam veterans in the forefront of the nationwide struggle to end the war. Misunderstood by both authorities and radicals alike, VVAW members were mostly young men who had served in Vietnam and returned profoundly disillusioned with the rationale for the war and with American conduct in Southeast Asia. Angry, impassioned, and uncompromisingly militant, the VVAW that Hunt chronicles in this first history of the organization posed a formidable threat to America's Vietnam policy and further contributed to the sense that the nation was under siege from within. Based on extensive interviews and in-depth primary research, including recently declassified government files, The Turning is a vivid history of the men who risked censures, stigma, even imprisonment for a cause they believed to be "an extended tour of duty."

Book excerpt: Ranked #23 on jfkassassinationbooks.com's list of "50 Best JFK Assassination Books of All Time." "I HIGHLY recommend this fabulous book... I have read hundreds of books on or related to the assassination of President Kennedy and this one is up there with the best! Very well written, entertaining, and INFORMATIVE; not the same ole same ole." Secret Service expert and author, Vince Palamara. The Deputy Interviews by Steve Cameron, is a book of interviews conducted with JFK assassination experts, insiders, & family members who knew former Dallas Deputy Sheriff Roger Dean Craig, who witnessed numerous events that dramatically contradict the Warren Commission's final conclusions about the J.F.K. assassination. The book contains the following: Interviews with members of Roger Craig's family, including the last living relative to see him alive; FBI & CIA files that corroborate Roger Craig's story of what he witnessed during & after the assassination of John F. Kennedy; Evidence of multiple bullets hitting the grass on the South side of Elm Street, proving there was more than one shooter; Evidence that a 7.65 Mauser rifle was found on the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository.-Evidence that the rifle seen being escorted from the Book Depository was not the same rifle Oswald is seen posing with in the famous backyard photos; Evidence that eyewitness testimony was tampered with by government officials to support the official assassination narrative; Names & photos of suspects who were identified by eyewitnesses in Dealey Plaza; Pages loaded with rare historical photos; An interview with JFK assassination expert, & author Robert Groden. Cameron and Groden discuss many areas of the case, including Groden's scheduled interview that he had with Roger Craig, that never happened. Because after Groden's plane landed in Dallas where he was to meet with him, he soon discovered that Craig was found shot to death just days earlier in his father's home on May 15, 1975. At the time, Groden was working for Congressman Thomas Downing of Virginia, & was sent to Dallas to interview Craig for Downing's reopening of the J.F.K. assassination case, which led to the formation of the House Select Committee on Assassinations in 1976. Groden confirms to Cameron, that Roger Craig would have been called before the committee as a key witness; An interview with first generation JFK assassination researcher J. Gary Shaw, who personally knew Roger Craig, & worked closely with him and Penn Jones Jr., during Jim Garrison's trial against Clay Shaw for conspiracy to assassinate President John F. Kennedy; An Interview with an insider from the Dallas Sheriff's Department who explains that most members of the office didn't believe Oswald assassinated Kennedy; An interview with Phil Singer, a former member of Mark Lane's Citizens Commission of Inquiry (CCI). We discuss his decades-long involvement in the JFK assassination research community, & his recent efforts to reunite John F. Kennedy's pallbearers. We also discuss similarities between Roger Craig & Abraham Bolden, who was the first African-American secret service agent to serve on the White House detail, who was personally hired by President Kennedy in Chicago in 1961, but had his career destroyed & was imprisoned for three years after he came forward with accusations of dishonorable and reckless behavior by members of Kennedy's Secret Service detail, which may have helped to facilitate the President's assassination; Letters written by Craig before he died; Never before published family photos; Craig's 1960 award certificate for Officer of the Year; Craig's FBI & military files; Sworn affidavits, police reports, & government documents that corroborate Craig's story about what he witnessed on November 22, 1963, and much, much more! This is a one-of-a-kind book, that shines a VERY bright light on the assassination of John F. Kennedy, & the murder of Roger Dean Craig.
